About Us
Founded in 2023 under Lions Clubs International, the Leo Club of Colombo Hogwarts operates as a non-profit organization with strong community values. Spearheaded by President Leo Akila Weragoda and Vice President Leo Lion Senula Deelana, and with guidance from esteemed figures like PDG Dr. Lion Lasantha Goonewardene and Leo Lion Binuja Amaranayaka, the club has swiftly grown to encompass 100 dedicated members aged 18 to 30. Embodying the theme "Together We Achieve Greatness," the club focuses on community engagement and empowerment. Their initiatives bridge urgent gaps in society, reflecting a resolute commitment to driving positive change.

Ashirwada Poojawa
Colombo Mid City, Leo District 306 C2 organized "ASHIRWADA POOJAWA 23," invoking blessings for a prosperous Leoistic year. Religious ceremonies were held at temples, a mosque, a church, and a Hindu kovil, symbolizing unity and cultural respect. The event marked Leo Club of Colombo Hogwarts' inaugural year, fostering a spirit of collaboration among members.
Youth Vision - Car Meetup
Brought together over 100 performance cars and motorcycles, offering a much-needed escape for passionate petrol heads. Organized by the Leos of Royal College, Colombo Hogwarts, and Thurstan College in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council, the event aimed to create automotive content, provide networking opportunities, and showcase the stories behind car owners and their vehicles. It served as a source of inspiration and connection for enthusiasts facing economic challenges and seeking to reignite their passion for cars.
Leo Sports Encounter
The Leo Youth Sports Encounter 2023, organized by the Leo Clubs of Royal College, Thurstan College, and Colombo Hogwarts in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council, promoted sportsmanship among 23 schools in Colombo. With over 2000 athletes participating in various sports, including cricket, netball, and athletics, the event was graced by distinguished guests. It concluded successfully with the support of the Youth Vision 2048 Committee.
Leo Plantation Challenge
The Leo Tree Plantation Challenge 2023, an international effort led by Leo Clubs in Dhaka and Colombo, aimed to combat global warming through tree planting. It started in August 2023. Leo Club of Colombo Hogwarts planted 40 trees spending over 20,000 LKR. Leo Akila Weeragoda and Leo Sathsari Samaranayake played key roles, planting 15 trees. The project highlighted the importance of tree planting to combat climate change and concluded successfully with strong club member support.

Lions International has greenlit the establishment of Leo Club of Colombo Hogwarts, a platform offering youth leadership experience through community activities. The Leo Moto, "Leadership, Experience, Opportunity," hones skills like project management and teamwork. Kudos to President Akila Weragoda and VP Senula Deelana for their efforts. The club aspires to serve and lead, forging enduring connections and nurturing leaders while impacting society.
